The Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame recognizes graduates whose accomplishments and integrity bring honor to their school and community. The purpose of the Hall is to pay tribute to these alumni and to uphold their contributions as examples for current and future students.
Guidelines for Nominations
Nominations into the WCPS Hall of Fame are open and available for anyone. Persons may be nominated by a second party or they may nominate themselves.
In order to be eligible, the candidate must have attended one of four Woodford County high schools, OR, the candidate must have made other significant contributions to the Woodford County Public Schools, i.e. coach, teacher, volunteer.
The Woodford County Public High Schools are: Midway High School, Simmons High School, Versailles High School, and Woodford County High School.
The categories for consideration are:Academics, Career, Arts & Humanities, Patron, Athletics, Public Service (an explanation of each category can be found below).
Complete the nomination form either using the online form or by mailing in a paper form. These can be found on the nominations page of this site.
Mail in or email any supporting information to the address listed on the nominations page of this site. Be sure to label each item of support clearly as documentation of the nominees’ achievement.
If the candidate is not selected the first year the name is submitted,the application and supporting materials will be reconsidered each year thereafter for five (5) years.
After five (5) years, the candidates’ application and supporting materials will have to be resubmitted.
Criteria for Selection by Category
Academics To be considered for induction in the Academics category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, a nominee must have attended a Woodford County public high school and demonstrated a distinguished achievement in at least one of the following ways: * Received distinguished academic awards, * Made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge through research or academic pursuit, * Became an honored teacher or professor, demonstrated extraordinary academic or educational leadership, or * Produced academic work that is seminal, ground-breaking, problem-solving or life-enhancing.
Arts and Humanities To be considered for induction in the Arts and Humanities category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, a nominee must have attended a Woodford County public high school and achieved widespread public acclaim in one of the following areas: * Performing Arts * Visual Arts * Literary Arts
Athletics To be considered for induction in the Athletics category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, as an athlete or coach, a nominee must meet the criteria described below.
As an athlete, the nominee must have: * Attended a Woodford County Public High School * Performed extraordinary achievements as a high school athlete in a Woodford County public high school, * Earned a varsity letter in at least one sport, * Attained a record of achievement documented by statistics, * Completed their high school eligibility no fewer than 10 years prior to nomination
Coach As a coach, the nominee must have: * Achieved success as coach in a Woodford County public high School, * Ended his or her term as coach no fewer than three years prior to nomination.
Career Achievement To be considered for induction in the Career Achievement category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, a nominee must have attended a Woodford County public high school and reached an extraordinary level of achievement in his or her field of endeavor by having: * Exhibited exceptional leadership, * Performed meritorious service, * Served for an exceptional length of time, * Earned peer recognition or honor on a local, state, regional, or national level.
Patron To be considered for induction in the Patron category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, a nominee, who did not attend a Woodford County public high school, must have contributed to the success and /or culture of a Woodford County public school by: * Exhibiting extraordinary leadership, * Contributing significant volunteer time or labor, * Making a substantial monetary or in-kind donation, * Exhibiting effective advocacy on behalf of members of the school community.
Public Service To be considered for induction in the Public Service category of the Woodford County Public Schools Hall of Fame, a nominee must have attended a Woodford County public high school and reached an extraordinary level of achievement in public service by having: * Exhibited exceptional leadership * Performed meritorious service, * Served for an exceptional length of time, * Held elected office.
